Cold as Ice was written by Foreigner as a creative response to a cold, snowy, New York winter; and as a metaphorical exploration of a “cold-hearted” woman. At the time of its writing, temperatures in NY had dropped to -20 degrees. Lyrically, the song was based on the stereotype of a selfish manipulative woman who is “digging for gold” and in the process, ruining the relationship.
At one time, my stepson referred to his mother (my covert narcissist) as a self centered, controlling, manipulative, asshole. I should have heeded is warning at the time, but did not.
