Invariably, there are people in this world, especially narcissists, that may not like the content that I post and attempt to have my blog shutdown or my content removed. As such, I feel compelled to provide a legal disclaimer for such individuals. So, here you go…
Nature Of My Site & Posts
I believe I clearly posted the purpose of my writing, but in case you missed it, let me re-emphasize it. As a survivor of narcissistic abuse, I am progressing through my recovery. As part of my recovery, and at the recommendation of my doctor, writing was a suggestion as a means to express myself and aid in my recovery. At the same time, I have a desire to help others who may be either in a narcissistic relationship, or are in the process of recovering from a narcissistic relationship. That is the only purpose of my website and there is no other stated purpose.
Opinionated Content
As would be expected, my content may contain my opinions. Those opinions are mine and mine alone and not affiliated or associated with any other organization or third parties. You are free to have a differing or concurring opinion and can express such in the remarks section of any of my posts, including this one. Please keep in mind that if you do wish to express such an opinion, you are consenting to me posting that opinion, solely at my discretion.
Content Ownership
My content, including pictures, will always be one of the following:
- Content that I created.
- Content that I own, including photos.
- Content that is already within the public domain and free for me to use.
The last point is especially important as I sometimes post items from the public domain that have been shared with me or previously publicly posted, such as Facebook or other social media platforms. Before requesting that I remove such content, I highly recommend that you first review the terms and conditions of those platforms before making a claim about my reposting of content. Doing so, just makes life easier for everyone and more than likely you will realize that you agreed to your content being on the public domain as part of the terms of use agreement for that particular site. Do I need to say anymore about this?
Terms of Use
I take great care to ensure that all of the information and content that I present is accurate and true to the best of my knowledge. However, there can be times where I may have omissions, mistakes, or errors. After all, I am human. If you believe that my content is not accurate, please feel free to contact me via the comments section within any particular post. I highly suggest that if you believe there is some legal precedent for your concern that you identify it as well. Upon doing so, I will evaluate your concerns, which may also include consulting with my legal counsel, which I do have. Updating of my content is at my discretion alone, and I am under no obligation to provide a response to you as to whether I opted to change or update my content.
Hold Harmless Clause
The information provided on my site and blog posts is for informational purposes only and shouldn’t be seen as any kind of advice, such a medical, legal, tax, emotional or other types of advice. Again, the purpose of my site is to aid in my recovery from narcissistic abuse. If it can aid in your recovery from narcissistic abuse, great! However, any action you may take based on my writing are at your own discretion and risk. Trust me, there is no legal benefit from stating I made you do it. I didn’t, and this covers that topic.
Not A Professional
Hand in hand with my “Hold Harmless Clause”, I am not a professional. Well, I am a professional IT worker, just not a professional as it relates to other matters. As such, please don’t think that I am a doctor, medical professional, health professional, tax professional, attorney, engineer, or any other professional. If you are considering taking any actions based on what I post, you probably should consult a professional before doing so.
Reservation of Rights
I reserve the right to change and how I manage or run my blog. I may change the focus or content on my blog at any time without notice. If you don’t like that, create your own blog.
Other Resources
As I reside in the state of New York, I happily provide to you the New York State Law for harassment (criminal) and libel (civil rights) as follows:
https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/PEN/240.26
https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/CVR/A7
Now, before you decide to press criminal charges on me or go after me for libel, let me emphasize a couple of important points:
- Prosecution for harassment in the second degree requires proof that my writing serves no other legitimate purpose than to harass you. I have made the purpose of my site and posts very clear. You may not like my posts, but they are serving a very important purpose to me and others. I can very easily provide the proof and feedback provide by others as to how my writing is indeed serving its intended purpose.
- Libel, is a civil offense. If you desire to go after me for libel, you will need to prove that the information I posted is not only false, but I knew it was false. As I have provided you an avenue to dispute my information, I would suggest you do that before going through the unnecessary expense and legal fees of suing me in civil court.
Have a great day!
